About the material
Plant-based materials depend on agricultural cycles, weather and land, and typically require reinforcements to achieve durability. Mycelium-based materials have demonstrated significant CAPEX investment needs and require a textile back/inside for structural integrity.
NGL® is produced through a controlled fermentation process with no seasonal dependency, can be grown anywhere and has a scalable production model that does not require the huge infrastructure that mycelium production demands.
Yes, and this is one of our most significant advantages. Because the material is grown rather than processed, properties such as thickness, texture, density, tensile strength and surface finish can be tuned at the production stage.
We work with brands and manufacturers to develop material specifications tailored to specific applications and performance requirements.
About production
NGL® can be produced anywhere in the world. Our fermentation-based process has no dependency on geography, climate, or water availability — which means production can be localized to reduce times, logistics costs, and carbon footprint. Our material is currently produced at our plant located in Madrid, Spain.
NGL® is compatible with existing leather tanning industry workflows, but employs more eco-friendly procedures. Post-fermentation processing can be carried out in partnership with established tanneries, significantly reducing the infrastructure investment required for brands and manufacturers looking to integrate it into existing supply chains.
About Sustainability & Compliance
We are currently developing full LCA certification in partnership with leading environmental consultants. This documentation will be available for brand partners as part of our supply agreement process.
